Creating a professional look for your online advertising and website is simple. Just remember to use the proper software, keep your design clean and consistent, and use colors and fonts that complement your logo.
Design for your medium. Creating a web blast is different from designing a website. Before you do anything, figure out what message you’re trying to convey and how you want to share it. And make sure you’re using the proper software. You can use Photoshop for things like banners, ads and web blasts, but you’ll need Dreamweaver or a similar product for putting together a website.
Choose a theme, and stick to it. It’s easy to get carried away with design, but you want your materials to have a consistent look. Branding is important to a company because it establishes confidence with clients and advertisers. If you can’t decide on a look, it appears as if your company can’t decide on anything.
Maintain the same color palette. The colors used on a corporate website can speak volumes about the corporation itself. Bright colors imply a more playful atmosphere, while bold colors command attention. Pastels are more feminine, while blues and grays have a masculine feel to them. Once you’ve found three or four colors that work well with your image, stick with them. The consistency in color will help create familiarity with your business.
Use fonts that match or compliment your logo. Your logo is an important part of your company’s identity. When you use it on a website or in advertising, you want to make sure the other fonts don’t clash with it. Stick with a simple san serif like Helvetica or Gill Sans, or a serif like Garamond or Times New Roman.
Lastly, keep your design clean and simple. If your design is cluttered your message and logo will get lost in the fluff, which is the opposite of that you want.
